Job Title: Business Development Manager Reports to: Sales Director Direct reports: None Job Summary/Overview
To exceed sales and profit budgets in line with sales strategy by promoting products to London and the Home Counties. To build relationships and lead efforts to establish and retain business growth opportunities with electrical contractors. Primarily obtaining new clients and fostering business relationships to increase profitable revenue from sales. To act as a champion and ambassador of the organisation, its values, mission and purpose to its customers.
Main Responsibilities & Duties
Achieve Sales & Profit budget
Promotion of the brand, including actively participating in targeted product promotions, to achieve individual sales and profit budgets taking projects from concept to order
Organising and attending sales visits
Finding new clients and promoting regular products and specifications solutions to small and medium sized electrical contractors.
Maintaining accurate records (CRM)
Product demonstrations to customers
Compile, analyse and report on opportunities, prospects, pipeline and sales figures
Negotiating quotations and contracts
Prepare relevant documentation for projects, including take offs, quotations, presentations and datasheets, where necessary.
Raising the company profile by attending expositions and seminars
Being aware of market trends and competitors
Maintaining a positive attitude that inspires co-workers and clients to grow the business
Prepares business development presentations and proposals tailored to audience
Provides feedback on potential new product development and operational needs back to the appropriate departments to ensure customer needs are met and new opportunities are explored
Captures, and reports both industry and competitor intelligence back to the Sales Director to support strategic decision making and sustainable business growth
Additional Responsibilities & Duties
Forward new & existing project opportunities to relevant colleagues to ensure maximised sales potential for the organisation within the UK.
Travel across London and the Home Counties, as required, for company and customer meetings.
Qualifications & Skills
Significant sales experience with strong electrical contractor relationships across London and the Home Counties. Specification experience would be an advantage but is not essential.
Knowledge of the lighting and / or electrical industry
Excellent interpersonal skills
IT literacy
Significant base plus open-ended commission and monthly car allowance.
