Description

Key Accountabilities and Result Areas: Key Elements:

Providing communications support to children's services to deliver Family Hub objectives
This will involve:
Designing, delivering and evaluating strategic communications campaigns to meet an agreed set of outcomes and measures
Ensuring SMART evaluation is integrated into all work and monitored to improve delivery
Developing communications that inform and involve the council's diverse communities and stakeholders, considering different needs
Thinking ahead, gathering intelligence on policy and operational developments in the service, developing communications plans
Providing expert advice to the Executive Mayor, cabinet members and senior managers on communications
Building and maintaining strong, effective relationships with external partners

To manage the council's reputation in the media, providing a proactive and reactive media relations service Family Hubs

Preparing proactive media plans and materials including press releases
Arranging media facilities and supporting media interviews
Issues management - horizon scanning, providing media handling advice and preparing plans and reactive lines.
Responding to media enquiries in a timely fashion
To support the delivery of a high-quality communications service for the council

Ensuring the co-ordination of communication activity within the team by keeping colleagues and managers briefed
Working with peers to identify and develop the most effective channels and high quality content for corporate communications
Working with colleagues to monitor, research and report on audience perceptions
Championing the council's transformation agenda in improving and modernising how we work and how we deliver services
To champion, promote and demonstrate the council's values in all aspects of the role
To be a positive ambassador for the council and Croydon, maximising our influence and creating opportunities to enhance reputation
Working with the resilience team in the delivery of crisis communications.

To support the communications and engagement managers as a senior member of the team
This will involve:
Managing all aspects of a communications campaign or project to agreed timescales and budget, with regular reporting to stakeholders
Taking a flexible approach to support the delivery of organisational and team priorities
Thinking creatively, inspiring and supporting colleagues, and constructively challenging to ensure improvement.
Keeping up to date on current thinking in communications, sharing this knowledge with peers and applying to activities
Managing any budget for communications activities to ensure cost effectiveness and value for money


Essential experience:

Extensive experience of development and delivery of effective communication strategies

Experience of effective proactive and reactive media relations

Experience of managing crisis communications effectively, providing a rapid response and sound handling advice

Strong political acumen, with experience of working in a highly politicised environment

Experience of budget management within a marketing and communications environment

Experience of overseeing projects that require graphic design, digital and print expertise.

Experience of developing and delivering successful campaigns which meet the right organisational outcomes.

Experience of all aspects of creating video content - from filming through to editing.

Experience of producing, publishing and managing high impact content across a wide range of channels, including traditional, digital, social.
